Read to Me Project Monthly Journal
- Option 1: Write a short summary – 1 or 2 sentences to explain the story.
- Option 2: Draw a picture of your little one’s favorite part of the book.
- Option 3: Draw or write something your little one said or did when you read the book.
Writing Prompts:
- Describe how your little one acts when you read to him/her.
- Describe the place at home where you read to your little one.
- Tell about your little one’s favorite Read to Me book.
- What is the biggest challenge of reading to your little one?
- Describe how you and your little one have fun when you read.
- Describe one of the characters or pictures in the book.
Letter Writing Prompts:
- Write a letter to your parents, principal, teacher, etc. explaining why it’s important to read to very young children
- Write a thank you letter to your Read to Me Project Coordinator
“Wonder of Reading” Art prompts:
- Create a drawing of a scene from your favorite book that sparked your interest.
- Create a drawing of a book or story you have imagined.
- Create a drawing of you and your little one reading together
- Create a drawing of you reading a book to your whole family.
- Make a “Wonder of Reading” poster filled with words and pictures that tell why reading is amazing and important.
