Award Ceremony Volunteer Information:
Description: Student Award Ceremonies: This is a wonderful chance to meet students and witness first-hand their excitement about being recognized and awarded during Read to Me Project’s end-of-year awards ceremony. You might even hear heart-warming stories about reading to a baby brother or sister. Volunteers assist the program coordinator with set-up and coordination of handing out the awards during the ceremony and subsequent book giveaway. It may require moving boxes of books, tables and chairs, and the ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
· Hours: Up to 4 hours per shift. Each ceremony is 30-45 minutes.
· When: During school hours (8am-3pm) in late May through early June.
· Where: School sites (Monterey, Seaside, Marina, Salinas, and Greenfield)
· Need: 1-2 volunteers per coordinator per class/school

Book Bin Inventory Volunteer Info:
Description: Book inventory and preparation for next year: If you love books and enjoy organizing things, we need you! At the end of every school year, bins of books that have been used by the students are returned in varying conditions. Some bins are missing books and often, books in the bins need to be reordered according to the ages of children they are meant for. The needs are to focus on ensuring accuracy, checking inventory lists to identify missing books, and following a system that results in clean, organized bins of 80 books that are ready for next year’s classes. The process involves standing and moving about comfortably and possibly lifting up to 35 lbs.
· Hours: 1-4 hours per shift. Minimum of 1-hr shifts..
· When: Daytime hours (9am-4pm), May and June.
· Where: RtMP Office, 1121A Baldwin Street, Salinas
· Need: 1-3 volunteers per shift
