Our Mission Read to Me Project empowers children and communities to lead through literacy.

Our Vision Literacy becomes a bridge to opportunity, belonging, and lifelong learning.

Where Young Readers Become Leaders

The family is a child’s first teacher, and the earliest years of life help shape a lifetime of learning. At the Read to Me Project, we build on that foundation by empowering children to discover their voice through reading. Our programs place books directly in the hands of students and invite them to become Reader Leaders, sharing stories with younger children, siblings, and family members. As students read to others, they strengthen their own literacy while building confidence, connection, and leadership.

My name is Dylan, and I’m a college student at California State University, Monterey Bay, studying Mechatronics Engineering. That is a fancy way of saying I learn how to build and program “smart” machines—it’s like giving a robot both a brain and the muscles it needs to move!
Right now, I’m working on a project where I use a high-tech glove to control a giant robotic arm just by moving my hand. When I’m not building robots, I’m part of a group called Toastmasters where I practice giving fun speeches and learning how to be a better leader. I love figuring out how things work and using technology to bring cool ideas to life!
